 About Us

Since its start in 1975 by owner Rodney Juntunen, Planting Design has specialized in custom residential and commercial landscape design, construction and installations. Over the past twenty years we have had the pleasure of designing, installing and maintaining gardens of distinct creativity and quality throughout the Puget Sound. We set ourselves apart from our competitors by meticulously addressing not just the landscape, but the entire outdoor space - from the initial grading process, to carefully placing the perfect piece of garden sculpture, to the final lighting details. This commitment to excellence has been, and will remain, the cornerstone of our business.

Designers

As a whole, our design team is well versed in grading, drainage and construction issues. Additionally, we pride ourselves on our ability to source highly unusual and superior plant material that we can incorporate into our designs. Numerous trips to Oregon, British Columbia and California have allowed us to develop a strong relationship with our growers who understand our high standards of quality.

Foreman

Whether they specialize in irrigation, garden maintenance, or hardscapes, our foremen are key members of our company. Together, they have successfully installed the plants and irrigation systems for an extensive palette of projects ranging from a nine-acre estate to a two hundred square foot garden. Their ability to understand the order in which a project should proceed is, in our opinion, second to none.

Crew

We have a crew that we consider to be the most essential part of our business. Our crew members are skilled in hardscapes, carpentry, garden maintenance, and/or irrigation. All of our crew members are committed to quality - taking the time to stake each tree meticulously, prune each hedge to perfection, and transport each plant with the utmost of care.
